I have ready local and contactable references for both personal character and professional acumen. I will share this list with you upon completion our initial consulation, to safeguard the privacy of my colleagues and mentors.
My experience is geared towards middle-school students in grades 5-8. For inquiries about scholars outside of this range, send me an email detailing your student's needs, and I will set up a consultation if it sounds like a good fit.
I offer instruction across the core subjects of mathematics, science, and RLA (reading and language arts), as well as academic skill-building help. I also offer week-long writing boot-camps throughout the months of June and July, with various focuses.
I offer both online and in-person sessions.
I prioritize mutually-convenient public spaces, such as libraries or coffee shops. I am willing to come to your home, provided a guardian is present for the duration of each session, for families living in the mid-cities area. For online sessions, I use Google Meet
My standard session length is one hour, but if you think extended or reduced sessions would be best for your student, I'm open to it.
My base rate for individual sessions is $45 / one hour session. For my week-long writing boot-camps, I cap each class at 6 students and host five, 2-hour sessions at $250. I am open to prorating shorter sessions for scholars who struggle with sustained focus.
I offer a free Google Meet consultation for all prospective families, to assess your needs, answer any questions, and determine logistics. Trial sessions may be offered on a case-by-case basis during consultations.
The most helpful points of information may come from our consultation and discussion. That said, documentation of specific progress and aptitude metrics is very useful. Standardized testing scores, classroom grades together with curriculum specifics, notes from your student's school, and a list of any existing 504 accomodations are all examples of useful data.
I am equipped to handle both remedial and accelerated scholars within the scope of a general education setting. If your scholar has an IEP, you are welcome to book a consultation, but I am not certified in special education.
As a standard, I meet with students from 1-2 times a week based on your specific goals. If you have another structure in mind, you are welcome to inquire about it during our consultation.
I respectfully ask that you notify me 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel, and 24 hours in advance to reschedule a session. There is no fee associated with either. However, for no-shows, I require a $25 fee be paid before you can schedule a new session.
I am able and willing to do so. In some cases, I think it can be very valuable and will assign short synthesis assignments, or assignments to assess particular skills for the next session. However, I will not assign substantial homework unless you request it specifically. My tutoring is most effective if students come to each session with excitement and curiosity. If the sessions feel like a weekly, looming deadline during an otherwise school-free summer, that mindset becomes hard to achieve.
If you're interested in scheduling a session, I recommend you book a consultation HERE.
